Northern have beaten Balochistan twice in three days – this time to claim the National T20 Cup. Having won the toss, Haris decided to chase again as he did last night against Southern Punjab in the second semifinal hoping that something similar would happen, but it was not to be yet.
Umar Amin was the man today for Northern as he made 60 off 38 balls. His score included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Just as he was dismissed with Northern at 95. They soon lost their way as Hussain Talat and Amad Butt – fresh from their match-winning knocks yesterday seemed set to take Balochistan over the line today as well, were in the wickets today as Northern fell to 109-5 in the 15th over.
However, Nawaz and Shadab duly played their parts as all-rounders. They guided Northern to 167 with a 58 run partnership, which eventually was the match-turning one. The target of 168 proved too big for Balochistan as they were bundled out for 115, giving Northern the cup in process. The highest scorer for Balochistan was Imran Farhat with 33, with Awais Zia scoring 28.
The required run rate was too much for even yesterday’s heroes Hussain Talat and Amad Butt – unfortunate to get run out as Northern bowlers showed no mercy to the Balochistan lineup as they wrapped up a convincing 52 run victory in the National T20 Cup Final. Sohail Tanvir was the one who did the early damage, he ended with 3/27, with two each for Shadab and Nawaz and one each for Imad and Amir.
